Trouble as Eastenders' Ben Mitchell steps in front of speeding motorbike

Eastenders' Ben Mitchell has had a hard time of it recently and things won't get better for now.

In an upcoming episode of the BBC soap, the character's life is in serious danger when he steps out in front of a speeding motorbike.

Fans of the show will know that Ben, played by Max Bowden, has recently lost most of his hearing after hitting his head in the boat crash, which took Sharon's son Dennis' life.

And in episodes earlier this week viewers have been given some insight into what he has been going through with the show deliberately distorting the sound whenever anyone talks to the character on screen, to demonstrate how things sound in real life for someone with severe hearing issues.

These picture's from yesterday's episode show just how much Ben's hearing loss is affecting him, as mother Kathy Beale (Gillian Taylforth) rushes to help him when she sees the accident about to happen.

But fans of the show will have to wait till tonight to see if she manages to step in in time.

There has been a lot of turmoil already for Ben this week, as news from the police - or lack of news - about missing Callum Highway led to him lashing out.

The character was on the warpath last week, embroiled in a showdown with Callum's kidnapper Keanu Taylor.

But with Keanu gone, Ben had no idea where the love of his life was - and if he was even alive.

However Callum was eventually found in Thursday night's episode, after Ben, Jay Brown and Callum's brother Stuart Highway return back to the warehouse Keanu left him in, to have another look.

Ben then finds Callum, who is still alive and taken to hospital.

But all this this was not before Ben went to the hospital after pressure from Jay and Lola and was told he would need to have an operation if there was any chance of his hearing being restored, which leaves him reeling at the news.

How will Ben continue to deal with his hearing loss?

Will Callum be on hand to help see him through?

EastEnders airs Mondays and Fridays at 8pm, and Tuesdays and Thursdays at 7:30pm on BBC One.
