ORLANDO, Fla. _ The tropical system that developed Wednesday east of Florida continues to trudge toward the Sunshine State with a 20% of tropical development in the next five days, according to the National Hurricane Center's 8 a.m. update.
The disturbance of disorganized showers and thunderstorms developed Wednesday morning over the Central Bahamas, and is slowly moving toward Florida where it could become the fourth named tropical storm of the 2019 hurricane season; receiving the name of "Dorian."
The storm is traveling between 5 and 10 mph and is projected to travel up the east Florida coast this weekend, the NHC said.
Chatal, the tropical storm that developed in the northern Atlantic, lost power due to dryer winds in the upper atmosphere and has regressed into a tropical depression, where it is expect to continue meandering and fizzle out, according to the NHC.
