ORLANDO, Fla. _ The 12th named storm of 2016 has organized over the eastern tropical Atlantic Ocean, according to the National Hurricane Center in Miami.
Tropical Storm Lisa has winds of 40 mph and is 430 miles west of the Cabo Verde Islands, now spinning closer to Africa than it is to North America. As of 11 a.m. EDT Tuesday, the swirling storm was moving northwest at 12 mph.
Lisa is expected to strengthen in the next 48 hours, and is forecast to continue to move to the northwest, but not impact land for at least the next two days.
The National Weather Service's five-day storm track puts the path of the storm going west-northwest, but conditions can change rapidly, and this storm is in its infancy.
Meanwhile, Tropical Storm Karl continues its westward path with only 40 mph winds. This storm is 530 miles east-northeast of the Leeward Islands and 1,070 miles southeast of Bermuda.
The five-day forecast for Karl shows the storm curving out to sea.
