Tropical Storm Jose gaining strength in central Atlantic: NHC

(Reuters) - Tropical Storm Jose, the tenth named storm of the 2017 Atlantic hurricane season, was gaining strength in the central tropical Atlantic, the National Hurricane Center (NHC) said on Tuesday.

Jose was located about 1400 miles (2,255 km) east of the Lesser Antilles and was packing maximum sustained winds of 45 mph (75 km/h).

Some strengthening is forecast during the next 48 hours and Jose could become a hurricane by Thursday, the NHC added.
