Tropical Storm Edouard to bring heavy rain followed by 30C heat

Tropical Storm Edouard is set to bring torrential rain to the UK - potentially followed by 30C heat.

Next Sunday, temperatures could hit 26C with the warm weather continuing until July 20.

Storm Edouard is currently tracking across the Atlantic Ocean and will reach the UK by Thursday after two days of heavy rain.

The Met Office's long range forecast states: "Temperatures are likely to be either around or on the warmer side of average, with the warmest conditions likely in the southeast."

According to the Mirror, BBC meteorologist Chris Fawkes said "two lumps of cloud" are set to bring rain for today and tomorrow before Edouard arrives, with "no sign of the weather settling down just yet".

He said Tuesday will see "thicker cloud" edging in and "once the rain's set in it's going to be windy for much of the day" - with wind gusts hitting 30mph by the evening, according to the Met Office.

Mr Fawkes added the rain will become "a little more confined to the south" on Wednesday and will continue "in pulses - light one minute and then a bit heavier".

Then Edouard - who will be considerably less energised by the time he reaches Britain - "will bring more rain".
