The storm is on track for landfall this weekend.
Boise State’s big marquee game against Florida State to open up its season is being threatened by tropical storm Dorian whose path is lining up toward Jacksonville, Florida.
As of Tuesday afternoon, the storm is expected to go over the area and the forecast calls for about a 50% chance of thunderstorms. The latest update as of Tuesday night shows optimism for this game being played as scheduled on Saturday night.
Since hurricanes and tropical storms can be unpredicted so there are plans in place if this game needs to be adjusted.
“We are monitoring weather projections for the potential storm, as are the officials in Jacksonville, at Boise State, and at ESPN and the ACC,” Florida State Athletic Director David Coburn said in a statement. “It is too soon to make any decisions, but when they are made, the safety of the student-athletes and the fans attending the game will, as always, be the top priority.”
The Broncos are flying out and arriving on Thursday so if the game needs to be moved up, Boise State will be there a few days ahead of time so that could be an option.
If this game gets canceled it will be the second straight time it will happen to the Broncos. The First Responders Bowl game against Boston College was shutdown last year due to weather and there was no backup plan to finish that game.
