Tropical Storm Delta forms in the Atlantic: U.S. NHC

Tropical Storm Delta has formed in the Atlantic and is expected to become a hurricane when it moves near or over western Cuba, the U.S. National Hurricane Center (NHC) said on Monday.

The storm was located about 270 miles (440 km) southeast of Grand Cayman, packing maximum sustained winds of 40 miles per hour (65 km per hour), the NHC said.

"Delta is forecast to move into the southeastern Gulf of Mexico Tuesday night or early Wednesday," the Miami-based weather forecaster said.
