Tropical Depression Nine forms near Bahamas

(Reuters) - Tropical Depression Nine has formed near the Bahamas and is forecast to become a tropical storm on Saturday, the National Hurricane Center said on Friday.

The depression was located about 240 miles (385 km) east southeast of Freeport, Grand Bahama Island, packing maximum sustained winds of 30 miles per hour (45 km/h), the Miami-based weather forecaster said.
