Troon station platform to reopen on Monday after devastating blaze guts building

A Scots station platform will reopen on Monday after being gutted by a horrific fire.

Network Rail bosses have announced that Platform Two of Troon Railway Statio n will be open 'first thing' on Monday morning.

The station has been closed following the horror blaze on last Saturday.

Flames devastated the historic building with thick black smoke seen rising for miles around.

Firefighters spent several hours trying to get the flames under control and luckily nobody was hurt in the inferno.

There had been anger from holidaymakers and commuters trying to get to Ayrshire with many services disrupted this week.

But now it has been confirmed at least one of the platforms are reopening shortly.

A statement from Network Rail Scotland read: "Another quick update on the Troon station fire. We're pleased that we'll be able to reopen Platform 2 first thing on Monday 26 July.

"We'll provide more on the reopening of Platform 1 as soon as we can.

"Please check in with @ScotRail for service information."
