An Ayrshire music festival has been cancelled just two weeks before hitting the stage.
Troon's South Beach Sessions was set to feature performances from names like Hue and Cry, Big Country and Donnie Munro.
But organisers have pulled the plug, blaming "difficulties" around staging indoor events in the Covid era.
The popular event was set to be played out over three nights between September 10 and September 12 at Troon Concert Hall.
But organisers said logistical problems around staging the gigs at this point meant postponing was "the only decision available".
All performers have agreed to return for new dates in 2022, they said.
In a statement, South Beach Sessions said: “It has become increasingly clear that the difficulties in organising events – particularly indoor ones – are still with us.
"It has become clear that many of our regular concert goers were just not ready to buy a ticket for an enclosed venue and when we take into account the number of logistical issues relating to staff, supplies and even security it has lead to the difficult decision that postponement was the best course of action.
“All tickets are covered by South Beach Sessions’ “Rock n Rollover Guarantee” meaning that tickets will be valid for the rearranged 2022 dates.
"We would ask that ticket holders consider holding onto their tickets for next year but we understand that this may not be possible for everyone and refunds will be offered.
"All ticket monies are secured by Skiddle, our ticket retailer – your funds are safe!”
South Ayrshire Council confirmed today that the Concert Hall venue was available on the dates required, should organisers have wished to procede.
It followed our story yesterday over the confusion in Troon among community leaders over when they would regain full access to both that venue and the nearby Walker Hall.
New dates for 2022 are:
Big Country/The Skids – Saturday 30th July 2022 (TBC)
Hue and Cry – Friday 9th September 2022
Donnie Munro and JJ Gilmour – Saturday 10th September 2022 (Donnie is provisional and subject to final confirmation).
