Officials have advised against any "unnecessary" travel to the Ayrshire coast today.
The warning comes after Troon train station was devastated by a blaze which shocked residents of and visitors to the popular seaside town on Saturday afternoon.
Ayr MSP Siobhian Brown said "patience" was appreciated with the "challenging situation".
The Holyrood politician confirmed that experts are today checking the charred remains of the structure to make sure it's safe.
Ms Brown said: "I have spoken to ScotRail and the transport minister this morning to be briefed on current situation.
"Obviously the fire will have a significant impact on local travel.
"ScotRail are discouraging any unnecessary travel today until a contingency plan moving forward is in place.
"Patience with this challenging situation is appreciated. There will be information later today and I will keep you updated.
"A structural integrity check is being carried out today at what remains of the building.
"They are inspecting the canopy as the power lines are linked. Scottish Power are on the site to try and isolate the power section."
Rail operator ScotRail last night confirmed it was "unable to secure alternative transport", spelling misery for commuters and holidaymakers.
