Martina Fidanza won the tenth edition of the Trofee Maarten Wynants, giving Visma-Lease a Bike their fourth victory of the week and the Italian her second win in a week.
The 25-year-old won the bunch sprint after a 116-kilometre race. Tereza Neumanova (UAE Team DQ) was second and Nienke Veenhoven, riding her first race since her collarbone fracture in Gent-Wevelgem, took third place for Visma-Lease a Bike.
“A perfect day for the whole team,” Fidanza said.
"The girls worked hard all day and did everything they could to make it a bunch sprint. The lead-out was also great. In the last 500 metres, four of us were still in front. Nienke dropped me off at 150 metres and then all I had to do was finish it off. I'm super proud of everyone."
Seven days ago Fidenza won the Festival Elsy Jacobs race in Luxembourg.
"The race in Luxembourg was a totally different race. Today it was all nervousness in the peloton. Fortunately, we were well in front every time and kept the pace high. I think that was the best tactic," she said.
