TRNSMT Festival announcement planned for Friday morning

Glasgow's TRNSMT Festival has put out an online announcement asking fans to 'tune in' at 10 am on Friday.

The event which is due to take place this year from July 9 to 11 still remains in limbo although TRNSMT bosses previously said they were confident the festival would go ahead this summer.

Organiser Geoff Ellis recently revealed that he was expecting news in the next two weeks.

He said: "We’re confident it’s going to happen. We all need some hope. I think we are probably two weeks away from saying."

The festival which has been held in Glasgow Green since 2017, held TRNSMT at Home last year to fill the void, but promoters this year believe Covid restrictions will be eased across the country in coming months.

Although Nicola Sturgeon is still to make an announcement, events organisers across Scotland remain hopeful they will be able to see larger scale concerts and events return in coming months.

Scotland’s National Clinical Director Jason Leitch said it was "too early" to decide but that he was hopeful too.

Music fans are clearly hoping for a resolution by mid April and hope to see acts including Lewis Capaldi, Liam Gallagher and Rita Ora this year.

On hearing that TRNSMT had news to deliver, fans began speculating.

One suggested: "Vaccine passport & socially distanced festival".

Another suggested: "Moved to September the same as Biffy who are now playing at the Green?"

Another offered: "Your 2020 tickets are still valid for 2022"

And one another said: "As long as @liamgallagher is still playing i don't care!"
