TRNSMT boss Geoff Ellis hails 'incredible' feeling as he welcomes festival back

TRNSMT boss Geoff Ellis has hailed the 'incredible' feeling of welcoming the festival back after a two-year hiatus.

The DF concerts supremo said there is a "buzz of energy across the whole of Glasgow city centre" after the long-awaited return.

Ellis, festival director of TRNSMT, tonight admitted he was thrilled to get the gates of Glasgow Green open and give music fans what they've been wanting.

He said: "It’s absolutely incredible to be back. So much work has gone into making this weekend happen and it was a pretty amazing moment when we opened the gates earlier today.

"The festival means so much to people and it really reminds you how much we’ve all missed live music. You can see that from the crowd’s reaction so its amazing be able to offer their first gig experience in such a long time."

A huge 50,000 strong crowd of music lovers turned up for the first day of the three-day long festival with The Courteneers, Sam Fender and Blossoms among the attractions.

Ellis added: "There’s an action-packed few days ahead and a real buzz of energy right across the city.

"With artists including Liam Gallagher, Primal Scream, Chemical Brothers and Amy McDonald still to take the stage, there’s nowhere else I’d rather be this weekend."
