TRNSMT 2019: Weather forecast revealed as organisers ban umbrellas from Glasgow festival

Revellers heading to TRNSMT will need to pack their waterproofs next weekend as rain is set to hit.

Forecasters from the Met Office say the event on Friday, Saturday and Sunday will see a mix of wet weather and sunny spells.

The worst of the weather will hit Glasgow Green on Friday afternoon and evening when the likes of Stormzy, Gerry Cinnamon and Years & Years will be performing.

In another negative for those attending on Friday, organisers have placed umbrellas on the prohibited list - in short they are banned.

If you plan to head to the city centre festival on Saturday to see headliners Catfish and the Bottlemen, Bastille or Richard Ashcroft then leave the waterproofs at home and get the sun cream on.

The mercury is set to rise to around 19C on Saturday, while on Sunday temperatures also be in the late teens.

George Ezra, Lewis Capaldi and The Kooks will be appearing on the main stage throughout the day on Sunday.

A spokesperson for the Met Office said: "After a largely settled start to July, the beginning of this period will be more unsettled, with showers or longer outbreaks of rain.

It will be warm and humid too with the potential for the rain to be heavy at times.

As we move into the weekend, it is likely to turn more settled again and slightly fresher, with plenty of dry and sunny weather."

Revellers will be hoping the forecasters have called it wrong and the sun is shining like it did at the festival last year when the mercury hit 25C.
