TRNSMT 2019 - ScotRail lays on extra seats for music fans heading into Glasgow

ScotRail is laying on extra seats this weekend for music fans attending TRNSMT.

Glasgow Green is the place to be on Friday, Saturday and Sunday as the likes of Stormzy, Gerry Cinnamon, George Ezra and Lewis Capaldi take to the stage.

And the train firm is making sure there enough carriages to and from Glasgow to ensure passengers arrive in style to the three-day event - but they should still plan journeys in advance, and allow extra time for travel just in case of any unexpected issues.

ScotRail Head of Customer Operations Phil Campbell said: “With a fantastic line-up of artists, TRNSMT is shaping up to be an exciting event, and we’re pleased to be part of it.

“To help the festival run smoothly, we’re providing extra seats to and from the Strathclyde area, but trains are expected to be extremely busy.

“Make sure to check your train times on our website or app, and leave plenty of time for travel. Buying tickets in advance will also help reduce your need to queue.”

Bridgeton is the closest station to Glasgow Green, but the venue can be accessed from five stations, all within a 20-minute walk – Bridgeton, High Street, Glasgow Central, Glasgow Queen Street and Argyle Street station.

But customers are reminded that Argyle Street station closes at 5.40pm on Sundays.

Music fans are also advised to note that ScotRail’s alcohol bans will be in force before 10am and after 9pm each day.

And as with most special events, the train operator will have extra staff at stations to assist customers who need anything.

Travel advice is available on the ScotRail website at scotrail.co.uk/majorevents
