TRNSMT 2019 - Glasgow reacts as Lewis Capaldi replaces Snow Patrol in festival headline slot

Lewis Capaldi announced yesterday he would be joining the line up for this year's TRNSMT Festival in the most Lewis Capaldi way possible.

The singer-songwriter, who has been catapulted to bona fide fame as much for his hilarious patter as his music, is taking over from Snow Patrol after the band cancelled their headline slot due to medical reasons.

And in typical fashion, Lewis announced his addition to the summer festival by hitting the crossbar with a football.

A statement Snow Patrol confirmed that they would not be able to play at Glasgow Green because two members of the band are struggling with injuries.

It read: "Our dear brother, piano and guitar player Johnny Mcdaid has a serious problem with his neck and after consulting with some top neurosurgeons they are all in agreement that the only course of action is immediate surgery.

"As for the upcoming shows: to replace Johnny it would take at least two people and with Nathan still out with nerve damage (he is slowly on the mend) so he is also still unable to play guitar we feel it’s just not appropriate to continue with shows at this stage."

But how has Glasgow taken the news that Lewis Capaldi will be joining the likes of Stormzy, Catfish and the Bottlemen and George Ezra for the three-day fest, taking place from July 12-14?

We'll give you a clue - they seem pretty chuffed...

Some people are even saying it's cured their hangover - we want that sort of power too!

Others are all set to take some style inspiration from the man behind the funky sunglasses and hyper-fashionable tracksuits.

Some are even saying that the addition of Lewis Capaldi is going to make the festival.

Meanwhile some were mourning over the fact that they didn't get tickets for TRNSMT...now  that Lewis Capaldi is coming along.
