Trivandrum region tops in CBSE results

KOCHI: Trivandrum region, comprising the schools in Kerala and Lakshadweep, topped the Class XII final results of Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) with a record 99.89% pass. The results were announced on Friday. Last year also Trivandrum region came first with 97.67% pass.

Most of the schools in the state secured 100% pass in the results which were tabulated through a special assessment scheme due to the cancellation of board exams due to the pandemic. As per the scheme, each school had to tabulate the result of their respective students.

There were 37,117 students in the Trivandrum region. In Kerala alone, 37,104 students including 18,088 boys and 19,016 girls appeared. Among them 18,064 boys and 19,000 girls passed with a pass percentage of 99.87 and 99.92. The pass percentage of Kerala is 99.89. Meanwhile, all the 13 students from Lakshadweep passed.

Delhi East and Delhi West regions with 99.84% and Bengaluru region with 99.83% followed Trivandrum. This year the national pass percentage is 99.37 which is more than 10% higher than that in 2020.

According to the CBSE 40:30:30 formula for evaluation, the students were evaluated by adding 40% marks of unit test, mid-term or pre-board exams of Class XII, 30% marks of Class XI, and 30% marks of the best three subjects of Class X.

Teachers said that the results are almost similar to the results of the previous three years, which was set as the reference years for the special assessment scheme which used historical performance of each school.
