KOCHI: After securing the top position in Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) Class XII exams with 99.89 pass percentage, Trivandrum region, comprising schools in Kerala and Lakshadweep, topped the results of CBSE Class X too with an even higher pass percentage. Trivandrum region registered a record 99.9% pass while the national overall pass percentage was 99.04.
As many as 69,546 students were evaluated in Trivandrum region. In Kerala alone, there were 69,206 students including 34,219 boys and 34,987 girls. Among them, 34,216 boys and 34,984 girls passed the exam, securing 99.99 pass percentage. The pass percentage of Kerala is 99.99 and that of Lakshadweep is 100 as all 340 students (145 boys and 195 girls) who appeared for the exam passed.
Most of the schools in the state secured 100% pass and the results were tabulated through a special assessment scheme due to the cancellation of board examinations in the time of pandemic.
The students were assessed for 100 marks in each subject. While internal assessment amounted to 20 marks for each subject, the remaining 80 marks in each subject was divided across periodic test/ unit test (10 marks), half-yearly/ mid-term exams (30 marks), Pre-board or model exams (40 marks) of Class X.
Trivandrum was followed by Chennai (99.96%) and Bengaluru (99.94%). Guwahati region scored the least with 90.54 pass percentage. In 2020 and 2019, Trivandrum region secured the first position with 99.28% and 99.85 pass percentage respectively.
On July 14, SSLC results were announced by state general education department. The state recorded 99.47% pass and it was for the first time that the pass percentage has crossed the 99% mark.
Later on July 24, the Council for Indian School Certificate Examinations announced the ICSE (Class X) exam results.
