Triumph’s Updated Scrambler 900 Is the Most-Updated Modern Classic of the Year

Read through the news today, and you'll find a slew of updates to Triumph's Modern Classic lineup, but for my money, the Scrambler 900 got the best updates out of the lot. Between tech, chassis, and stylistic tweaks, this model is bound to make anyone who bought the MY25 version of this model feel hard done by. And that's a good thing because we need notable improvements when bikes get a price hike, which this model will for 2026.

This model is closely related to the Speed Twin 900, which got a fistful of updates last year, and now, it seems, it's time to give them to the Scrambler. While the Speed Twin 900 gained more on-road prowess, the Scrambler 900 is becoming more of an off-road monster, thanks to a more refined chassis, upgraded suspension, lightweight aluminum wheel rims, and the introduction of lean-sensitive optimized cornering ABS and traction control.

Of course, most of those new features will help the Scambler be a better all-around motorcycle, which it arguably always has been, but Triumph has skewed its progress more toward being a better off-road motorcycle than the previous version. The chassis update takes the form of a redesigned tubular steel frame, which is now paired with a cast aluminum swingarm that's supposed to reduce. weight while increasing rigidity.

Keeping things smoother over rough roads are 43mm Showa upside-down forks and preload-adjustable twin piggyback rear suspension units. And when it comes time to slow down, that should be easier too, thanks to the introduction of a larger 320mm front disc and a radial four-piston caliper. Finally, if you need another hint that this bike should handle the rough stuff better than before, look to the tires, which are now Metzeler Tourance dual-purpose tires.

According to Paul Stroud, Chief Commercial Officer, Triumph Motorcycles, "With a relaxed and confident riding position, easy handling, and a torquey Bonneville twin that's full of character, the Scrambler delivers genuine all-terrain capability and undeniable cool factor. This is a motorcycle that feels as good to ride as it looks. It stays true to the authentic Scrambler spirit, while offering the performance, versatility, and timeless style that today's riders expect. We're proud of what this bike represents and excited for riders to experience it."

Of course, Triumph has added a few extra bits that are now basically standard on all the Modern Classics, such as full LED lighting and a USB-C outlet. But the Scrambler 900 gets a few more upgrades, such as an LCD front unit and an integrated TFT screen. It's not only the tech that's been modernized, however, as the bike now has a revised brushed stainless steel two-into-one high-level exhaust, tighter lines, and a reprofiled two-piece seat, giving it a more stripped-back look.

There's always a buffet of aftermarket parts on offer when it comes to Triumph's, and it's no different with the Scrambler 900. So, while its starting price is $12,395, you could spend a lot more to get it looking exactly as you want. Although the starting price is a fair chunk of cash, you could argue that the Scrambler 900 is the most heavily updated unit of all the Modern Classics for MY26, and thus the best value of the bunch.
