Trisha Goddard to replace Jeremy Vine on Jeremy Vine Show in major shake up

Trisha Goddard is set to replace Jeremy Vine on his daytime TV programme, The Jeremy Vine Show, next week.

Trisha hosted her own self-titled talk show from 1998-2010, before hosting a U.S. version of her own talk show, The Trisha Goddard Show from 2012 until it was cancelled in 2014.

She will now be stepping into Jeremy's shoes for two weeks alongside regular presenter Storm Huntley.

The 63-year-old currently resides in Connecticut, US, with her partner, and so will likely be hopping on a plane back to the UK very soon.

She said: "It's going to be fun stepping into Jeremy's shoes and hosting a daily daytime show again."

"‘Having worked in this industry for 35 years I’m really looking forward to getting back into the studio, and working with the team, the panellists and the amazing audience who are the heart and soul of the show."

Show editor Ian Jones added: "Welcoming Trisha back to daytime TV will be a real treat for viewers.

"Together with Storm they are the perfect combination to take over the reins while Jeremy is away.

"She will bring just the right mix of expertise, energy and enthusiasm to the show, and we're all looking forward to working with her over the next two weeks."

The Jeremy Vine Show was recently hit by Ofcom complaints after Channel 5 viewers accused the presenter of 'race baiting'.

Last week, the 55-year-old television presenter asked a guest on his show whether it was a 'problem' that the 30 attendees at Prince Philip's funeral were white.

However, some viewers of the show actually thought the biggest problem was the question that he had posed.

According to Metro, Ofcom has since confirmed that the show has received 139 official complaints to the broadcast regulator about the episode.

And Jeremy also sparked controversy when, after Prince Philip's death, he asked a guest on the show whether the lack of diversity at the late Prince's funeral was an issue.

"What is wrong with Jeremy Vine - it’s a family funeral with only 30 close family attending! So what’s the aim on comments on the colour of the mourners??" wrote one Twitter user.

A second wrote: "Can't believe that a small (not very private) family funeral is being turned into a debate about the ethnic mix of mourners by Jeremy Vine".
