Trisha Goddard 'alarmed' by Ant and Dec's black face sketch after Geordie duo apologise

Trisha Godard has said she was left 'alarmed' by Ant and Dec's decision to use black face for a sketch on Saturday Night Takeaway.

Back in 2003, the Geordie duo dressed up as Jamaican women called Patty and Bernice on the ITV show in an undercover prank on the Emmerdale cast but have since issued a public apology for the sketch and others which saw them impersonate people from other races.

They wrote: "During past episodes of Saturday Night Takeaway we impersonated people of colour in the Undercover segment of the show.

“We realise that this was wrong and want to say that we are sincerely sorry to everyone that we offended.

“We purposely stopped doing this several years ago and certainly would not make these sketches today.

“We had already taken steps to ensure footage was taken down and have again recently confirmed with ITV that these segments, and any other historical content that could cause offence, does not appear on either the ITV Hub or the Saturday Night Takeaway YouTube Channel.”

But now talk shot host and Dancing on Ice contestant Trisha has condemned Ant and Dec 's actions in an interview with Mail Online, saying she was shocked no-one decided it wasn't the right thing to do.

She said: "‘Ant and Dec, I remember when I first saw that and it wasn’t that long ago. I was like what? What are you? The fact that you’re doing this…’ she shared. ‘Do you genuinely think you can trick people into believing – as it was for a You’ve Been Framed type thing – I thought how un-diverse.

"Nowhere along the line did someone because there was no one there to do that."
