Trippier out & Sanchez in as Pochettino makes tactical tweak - Predicted Spurs team vs Man City

Tottenham return to the Etihad Stadium this afternoon three days on from that incredible night in the Champions League.

Managing to go through on away goals despite losing the game 4-3, Mauricio Pochettino's side need to pick up a positive result in the battle for the top four.

Spurs are currently one point ahead of Arsenal and Chelsea, with Manchester United three points adrift with five games of the season left to play.

As well as Spurs needing the points to clinch a place in Europe's top competition for the 2019/20 season, Man City need to win as they bid to make it back-to-back titles.

City, who do have a game in hand, trail Liverpool by two points and failing to clinch victory this afternoon will give Jurgen Klopp's team a massive boost ahead of Sunday's game in Cardiff as they bid to lift a first Premier League title.

Spurs go into the game with a number of injuries and Pochettino doesn't have many options available to him in the middle of the park.

Moussa Sissoko was substituted in the first half of Wednesday's game with a groin injury and could potentially miss out, while Harry Winks will be absent again with the same problem as his teammate.

Eric Dier did return to training at Hotspur Way on Friday following a hip flexor issue, although the game will come too soon for him to be back in the starting XI.

That may mean Dele Alli starts in a deeper role alongside Victor Wanyama having done so earlier in the week following Sissoko's substitution.

There could also be a couple of changes in defence as Pochettino looks to freshen things up after a busy week for the Lilywhites.

A switch to a three-man defence is a real possibility with Davinson Sanchez coming in next to Toby Alderweireld and Jan Vertonghen, while Kyle Walker-Peters and Ben Davies may get the nod in the full-back positions ahead of Kieran Trippier and Danny Rose.

Spurs are also extremely light upfront at the moment and that could see Fernando Llorente remain on the bench to give his side an attacking option late on with Son Heung-min and Lucas Moura starting the game.

Predicted Spurs team vs Man City: Lloris, Alderweireld, Sanchez, Vertonghen, Walker-Peters, Wanyama, Alli, Davies, Eriksen, Son, Lucas.
