Triple H jokes about Conor McGregor vs Vince McMahon with 'billion dollar walk on the line'

Triple H has joked that he would like to see Conor McGregor take on Vince McMahon with 'the billion dollar walk on the line'.

The Notorious has been linked with appearing in the WWE for some time and the promotion's Executive Vice President of Global Talent Strategy & Development admits he would love to see the Dubliner appear in it at some stage.

Speaking to TMZ, McMahon's son-in-law Triple H said: "I think Conor McGregor versus Vince McMahon with the billion dollar walk on the line, I think that's a match made in heaven.

"I think the nature of what we do — even being entertainment — it lends itself to combat sports. It lends itself to people like, Conor McGregor or Ronda [Rousey], as it does with Tyson Fury. It did in the past with Mike Tyson and Floyd [Mayweather]. Entertaining people are what make those fights, a lot of times.

"Yes, the styles and fight itself, but entertaining and the ability to capture people as a personality, that's what really makes those fights. Same in our business, so if you can transfer that over and really now let yourself go and be larger than life, that's the key thing."

McMahon has fought numerous times in the WWE over the years, but has not been seen in the ring since taking on CM Punk in 2012.

Meanwhile, McGregor is open to a fight with UFC legend Anderson Silva.

Former middleweight champ Silva, considered by McGregor himself to be the greatest mixed martial artists of all time, made the proposal on Thursday.

The Brazilian suggested the rivals fight at a catchweight of 80kg, around three kilograms heavier than the Dubliner was when he beat Donald Cerrone in January.

In responding to McGregor's labelling him the greatest of all time, Silva said: "I have an immense admiration for the great athlete Conor and I believe that a super fight would be something historic for the sport.

"Neither of us need to prove anything to anyone; I believe UFC and sport fans would like to see this great martial show, testing my martial skills with him would be fantastic!"

Taking to Twitter, McGregor responded simply, "I accept".

Silva, 45, has lost his last two fights in the UFC, to Jared Cannonier and Israel Adesanya and has been out of action for more than 12 months.

McGregor is struggling for an opponent for his next bout, likely to be in July, after Justin Gaethje set up a shot at lightweight champion Khabib Nurmagomedov by beating Tony Ferguson.

McGregor had been linked with welterweight ruler Kamaru Usman but UFC president Dana White has ruled out that fight.

That would leave a trilogy fight with Nate Diaz but he has expressed an interest in taking on Jorge Masvidal in a rematch.
