Triple H heaps praise on Irish WWE star Jordan Devlin despite NXT Takeover snub

WWE legend Triple H has branded Irish prospect Jordan Devlin a 'global superstar' ahead of NXT Takeover: Cardiff this weekend.

The hall-of-fame wrestler who now runs NXT was glowing in his praise of the Bray native, who is renowned as one of the future stars in the promotion.

In an Irish exclusive chat with Mirror Sport, Triple H, whose real name is Paul Levesque, said: "His transformation and what he has done in the NXT UK brand with the guidance of the people around him has taken him to a whole new level.

"He is a different performer from the guy that I saw when we first started this was very good and had a lot of potential.

"The guy I see now is a global star on every level and he is really just getting started."

One of the most recognisable aspects of Devlin's career over the past few years has been his feud on home soil with NXT UK Champion Walter as part of OTT Wrestling.

And Triple H has said that he is very interested in bringing that rivalry back on WWE television.

"I want to see the best face the best," he said. "I believe styles make fights, it's what makes them great.

"When I think about the NXT UK brand, clearly Jordan Devlin comes to mind as one of the top of the top, and clearly Walter comes to mind too as the champion and arguably the best.

"So do I want to see them get into it? Yeah! The thing people also need to keep in mind is that as hot as that has been locally, Jordan is at a much higher standard to where he was a year ago and a year before that.

"When you see that rivalry on NXT UK, it's going to be nothing like what you've seen before because we will take it to another level, as good as it was before, you've seen nothing yet!"

NXT UK TakeOver: Cardiff, airs live on the WWE Network at 7 PM on Saturday August 31st.
