There was a triple celebration for residents of a Rutherglen sheltered housing complex recently - as three women living there all turned 95.
Eunice Baird, Margaret Robertson and Eleanor Menzies celebrated their birthdays in the same month at Stonelaw Court, and that prompted the other residents to throw a party for them.
Sandra Duncan, the secretary of the owner's association at the complex, who helped to organise the event, said: "All their birthdays were within a week of each other and we thought it would be nice to have a celebration for all of them.
"They had a great time and they thoroughly enjoyed it. All three of them are still independent at 95, and as two of them had served in the military the British Legion provided a cake for the party too.
"The three ladies did not know each other prior to coming to Stonelaw but have become firm friends."
Eleanor Menzies was born on September 20, 1926 and spent her early life in Canada, before returning to Scotland with her mother after her father passed away. Aged 18 she spotted an advert in the newspaper and joined the Canadian Women's Army Corp, where she rose to the rank of sergeant.
She spent time in Germany where she witnessed the aftermath of the Second World War, before moving back to Scotland again, where her son was born. She moved to Stonelaw Court in 2005.
Margaret Robertson was born September 23, 1926 and lived most of her life in Burnside. She married her childhood sweetheart and gave birth to two daughters. She spent time volunteering with various charities, including Meals on Wheels, the Luncheon Club and Cancer Research. She settled at Stonelaw Court in 2005.
Eunice Baird was born on September 27, 1926 and served in the Wrens branch at Bletchley Park and HMS Merganser during the Second World War. She went onto to spend six years in Zimbabwe, where she gave birth to a son, before returning to Scotland and working for 27 years with the police.
Sandra added: "It was an especially happy day enjoyed by all."
