After winning one of three races last weekend, Triple A racing's superstar duo of Jamie Whincup and Shane Van Gisbergen aim to make a milestone weekend for their Supercars team a memorable one in forecast difficult condtitions.

The team will celebrating their 250th round at the three-race Sydney Supernight event on Saturday and Sunday.

Brandishing eight driver's titles, nine teams titles and eight Bathurst 1000 victories, the only Brisbane-based brand has been a dominant force since joining the competition in 2003.

Departing veteran Jamie Whincup, who has seven of their driver's titles, says the team is like a family to him and they're keen to achieve in a big few days for the brand.

"I spend more time with the guys and girls in AAA than I have with my own family," Whincup said on Friday.

"It's fantastic. We've enjoyed it like you wouldn't believe - It's like a circus - we put everything in the truck, come away somewhere, spend the weekend, put on the best show we possibly can.... and then pack it all back out of the truck and go somewhere else."

Whincup is moving away from driving at years end and shifting into the managing director's role for Triple A after 15 years.

"I know I can do a good job, just put my head down and start the next year and make sure that this team is at this end of the pit lane for a long time come," he said.

For teammate Shane Van Gisbergen the Sydney SuperNight is a chance to bolster his 463 point lead over Will Davison in third, with Whincup in second 338 points adrift.

Van Gisbergen has won 12 races in 2021 and expects a new challenge in this leg of the calendar with two of the event's three races under lights at the Eastern Creek venue.

Weather is also likely to play into each team's planning with bleak rainy conditions forecasted throughout.

"The amount of spray that comes off these cars with the bright lights on it, it's not going to be easy, but I hope it's race-able and we keep racing," Van Gisbergen said.

"We're trying a whole bunch of stuff, two different directions on each car. But as I said, we just have to see what the weather does."
