Bournemouth’s beach has been named among the best in Europe in TripAdvisor’s annual Traveller’s Choice awards. The long, sandy beach was ranked the best beach in the UK and the fifth best in Europe, coming ahead of beaches in Sicily, Crete and Gran Canaria.
La Concha in San Sebastián, Spain – city beach in a crescent-shaped bay – was named best beach in Europe, followed by Elafonissi in Greece and Falesia in Olhos de Agua, Portugal.
In the UK, the pristine Luskentyre beach on the Isle of Harris, was rated second best, followed by Rhossili Bay on the Gower Peninsula and then Brighton beach.
The idyllic Grace Bay on the Turks and Caicos in the Caribbean – famous for its white sands and crystal clear water – was named the world’s best beach, followed by Baia do Sancho on the Brazilian island of Fernando de Noronha.
Beaches were ranked according to the quality and quantity of traveller reviews and ratings on TripAdvisor over the past year.
