Trio quit Bulldogs board amid fan pressure

A fan-led campaign has led to three Canterbury board members including chair Lynne Anderson quitting the embattled NRL club.

Anderson, along with former premiership winner Paul Dunn and John Ballesty, have all stood down from the board effective immediately the Bulldogs confirmed in a statement on Wednesday.

The trio's departure comes a week after a petition with 116 signatures calling for their exit was handed to chief executive Andrew Hill.

That move left Anderson, Dune and Ballesty facing being subject to an extraordinary general meeting which they were keen to avoid.

"The trio have confirmed that this decision was done to avoid the club having to go through an EGM and in the best interests of the club moving forward," the Bulldogs' statement read.

Joe Thomas, John Khoury, Adrian Turner and Peter Mortimer are the remaining board members.

Anderson, the daughter of Bulldogs godfather Peter "Bullfrog" Moore, took over from longtime chairman Ray Dib in 2018 vowing to rebuild the club.

A statement from the group seeking to oust the trio however said Anderson had "failed to show vision for the club" and "shown no interest" in delivering any of nine-pillars plan outlined at the 2018 AGM.

The recent announcement of a jersey sponsorship deal with Laundy's Hotel Group was also an area of concern amid fears of a conflict of interest involving Ballesty.
