Trio of restaurants now planned for site of legendary Paisley nightclub

Changes are being made to a development planned for the site of legendary  Paisley nightclub The Institute.

Developers now want  to include space for three restaurants on the Bridge Street land.

They already had permission for 36 flats and one class three restaurant.

Now construction firm Nixon Blue wants to reduce the number of flats by two and add another two restaurants.

The company has lodged a planning application with Renfrewshire Council.

The decaying nightclub was demolished last July - see below - after lying empty for a decade since closing its doors to dancers in 2003.

The site was finally bought after being advertised for nearly £500,000.

Nixon Blue is run by Buddie Richard McFadzean, who said:  “We hope we can breathe new life into this riverside location and encourage people to live by the water and enjoy the view opposite Paisley Abbey.”
