Trio of Leeds United promotion hopefuls star as FourFourTwo reveal their top EFL talents

Leeds United’s star performers have been recognised amongst the English Football League’s best in FourFourTwo’s latest ‘Top 51 EFL players’ feature.

With the Whites sat third in the table, a number of Marcelo Bielsa’s squad have been included for their efforts this season, as they continue their push to end a 15-year wait to reach the Premier League.

There have been a number of stand-out performers for Leeds this campaign, with both Kalvin Phillips, Liam Cooper being recognised in the Sky Bet Championship’s ‘team of the season’ last month.

However, FourFourTwo have released their latest feature on the top talent from England’s second, third and fourth tier. Interestingly, both Cooper and Phillips miss out on a spot in the top 51, with Pontus Jansson, Kemar Roofe and Pablo Hernandez all featuring in the top 12.

Leeds’ big Swede defender comes in at number 12, one spot behind West Brom’s Jay Rodriguez in 11th and one ahead of Hull starlet Jarrod Bowen. Only Middlesbrough, Sheffield United and Bristol City have conceded fewer goals than Bielsa’s men this season.

United’s top scorer, Roofe, sneaks into the top 10, in ninth place, ahead of Aston Villa’s Jack Grealish, who sits 10th. The 14-goal forward has enjoyed his best season to date at Elland Road and, but for injury, would have been odds on to reach over 20 goals for the season.

Marcelo Bielsa confirms Pablo Hernandez injury concern ahead of Preston clash

Despite missing out on a spot in the team of the year, the Whites’ Spanish superstar Pablo Hernandez pips the likes of Billy Sharp, Harry Wilson and Tammy Abraham to second spot.

The diminutive playmaker has been at the centre of all Leeds’ success, weighing in with 12 goals and 11 assists, the joint-highest in the league, at the tender age of 33.

Norwich City’s leading marksman, and the Championship’s golden boot front runner, Teemu Pukki leads the way, after his phenomenal 22-goal season.
