Trio of goats wandering on rail tracks cause delays for London commuters

A trio of escaped goats caused havoc for London commuters this morning after they broke out of their farm enclosure and started explored the railway tracks.

Three goats - Rosie, Ronnie, and Hope - went missing from Kentish Town Farm in the early hours of Friday morning.

They were later found wandering the national rail tracks nearby causing cancellations and delays to Thameslink and British Rail services.

Kentish Town Farm tweeted all the goats were returned unhurt.

“Thank you to @networkrail @EMtrains_ @TLRailUK for swift support to get all our escapee goats back into the farm this morning. All counted for and none badly hurt! Does anyone know any good welders?!

In another tweet they wrote: “Thank you and great that our night Watchman Terry was on site. We hope commuters were not held up but thankfully no goats hit as originally reported! :) Thank you to the super helpful train drivers and engineers who pulled together to get them all in!”

At around 8am Thameslink tweeted there were delays and cancellations to trains running between West Hampstead Thameslink and Kentish Town due to “animals on the railway”.

Around two hours later they said the disruption had ended.

But, commuters were more amused than annoyed once they learned what was causing the holdup.

One wrote: “You goat to be kidding me! Catching a glimpse of the goats is the highlight of my daily commute... I guess they missed me this morning!

While another said: “Currently delayed by these little blighters but glad they are all safe.”

Another wrote: “train’s delayed bc the goats from kentish town city farm are on the tracks. sounds like a bit of a... scapegoat to me”

And one person took the incident as a sign: “My relentless transformation into Reggie Perrin continues as, this morning, my train is delayed due to goats on the line at Kentish Town.”
