Trio of draft targets for Chargers at West Virginia’s Pro Day

The Pro Day trail continued as all 32 teams, which included the Chargers were present for West Virginia’s on Thursday.

The Mountaineers present three prospects that could very well likely be on the team’s radar, but they are certainly looking into quarterback Will Grier as the team will be meeting with him, according to ESPN’s Adam Schefter.

Though the Bolts signed Tyrod Taylor last week, the team will continue to do their due diligence on the quarterback class. Acquiring Taylor likely narrowed down the chances of adding one in the draft, though.

Aside from Grier, West Virginia boats two other players that very well may have garnered the attention of the team. Offensive tackle Yodny Cajuste and linebacker David Long make up the duo, who fit Los Angeles’ needs as they enter the draft.

Standing at 6-foot-5 and 312 pounds, Cajuste is an athletic big man with long arms, sound footwork, and controlled movements that has been profoundly tested. But he is still raw in several areas, bending too much at the waist, sporadic hand placement, and not properly using angles.

He has NFL starting potential if given time to develop, but the errors in his game and long-term health, given various knee injuries, will be the deciding factor in his draft projection.

Meanwhile, Long is a bit undersized at 5-foot-11 and 227 pounder and is very similar to Chargers’ Jatavis Brown. Long is an instinctive fluid mover in space that can play in all game situations. Long is at his best attacking the line of scrimmage and finding ways to slip through traffic to make plays in the backfield against the run or as a blitzer.
