Trio in custody after fatal Sydney stabbing

Three teenagers have been arrested after the fatal stabbing of 20-year-old man in Sydney's west.

The victim was found with a serious wound on Fitzwilliam Street, Parramatta, early this morning.

He was treated by paramedics but died after being taken to Westmead Hospital.

The three teens — aged 16, 17 and 19 — were arrested in a nearby street and were taken to Parramatta police station.

One man, who police spoke to as the crime scene was taped off, was seen with blood on his hands and clothing.

Police are investigating a link between the man's death and an altercation involving a group of men at Prince Alfred Square half an hour earlier.

Superintendent Julie Boon said one of the arrested males was taken to hospital for treatment but has been taken back to the police station.

"Police have been searching the area this morning for any objects and items that could be used as weapons," she said.

Superintendent Boon wouldn't say where the victim was stabbed on his body but said police believe the attack occurred in Fitzwilliam Street.

Police called for witnesses to contact authorities and say anyone who finds a suspicious object near Fitzwilliam Street to hand it in.
