Trio hand Nottingham Forest potential injury boost

A stunning strike from Brennan Johnson earned Nottingham Forest Under-23s a 1-1 draw with Leeds United.

It meant honours were even in Friday's Professional Development League encounter at the Nigel Doughty Academy.

The home side included three senior players - Michael Hefele, Carl Jenkinson and Yohan Benalouane.

Hefele (Achilles) and Jenkinson (ankle) both played 45 minutes on their way back from injury, while Benalouane (hip) completed the match.

Forest went behind just before the half-hour mark when Ryan Edmondson netted from close range following a corner from Liam McCarron.

The hosts had chance to equalise, with Will Swan seeing a penalty saved shortly before the hour mark.

They did pull level, though, in the 78th minute.

Johnson turned away from his marker before firing an unstoppable shot into the top corner from 25 yards out.

The result extends second-placed Forest's unbeaten run to 11 league games.

NOTTINGHAM FOREST U23S: Siampanis, Jenkinson (Lawrence-Gabriel, 46), Gallacher, Fornah, Benalouane, Hefele (Stewart, 46), Asare, Edser, Swan (Hayes, 64), En-Neyah, Johnson. Other subs: Shelvey, Sole.
