Trinny Woodall pays tribute to mum Ann as she dies aged 90 after dementia battle

Trinny Woodall has shared the sad news that her mother has died aged 90.

The fashion forward star, 56, revealed that her mum Ann passed away following a battle with vascular dementia.

Trinny - who often presents the fashion segments on ITV's This Morning - took to social media to pen: "Darling Mummy 1930-2020."

She added a red heart emoji and illustrated the message with a montage of photos of her mother.

Dementia is a syndrome - a group of related symptoms - associated with an ongoing decline of brain functioning, according to the NHS website.

There are many different types, including Vascular dementia and Alzheimer's disease.

Last year, the TV personality told that her mum was living with vascular dementia.

She told You magazine, “When I visit her and she’s just sitting in a chair unable to move independently, it makes me think about what will happen to me in the next 30 years.

“It seems as though you get to a stage where it’s too late to make your own decisions because your body has done that for you. I want to be able to keep making those choices.”

In May, Trinny shared on Facebook that she was raising money for charity Dementia UK.

Posting on social media platform, she wrote: "As some of you may know, my mother has dementia, so when Dementia UK reached out to inform me of their Time for a Cuppa campaign, I was incredibly eager to get involved.

"So, on Saturday 9th May, I will be hosting a virtual T-Party on Zoom at 10am (GMT). In return for a donation of £35, a sum that equates to an hour of specialised dementia care, we have a unique opportunity to spend time in each other’s (online) company with a comforting cup of tea and together hopefully reach my goal of raising enough funds to provide 100 hours of care.

"It seems like a fantastic excuse to have some fun and create a special memory while raising awareness and an impactful contribution. If you would like to join, please donate to Dementia UK through this JustGiving page - https://www.justgiving.com/fundraising/trinnywoodall."
