Trinity student, 20s, arrested after incident in college's library

A Dublin student was arrested in his prestigious university's library after allegedly being abusive to other college goers.

Gardai were called to the first floor Berkleley Library in Trinity College before arresting the man and taking him to Pearse Garda Station.

The incident happened on Wednesday evening with gardai saying the investigation is still ongoing.

The student had allegedly been removed by campus security three times before gardai were called.

A spokesperson said: "Gardai were called to an incident in a library of a college in Dublin 2 on Wednesday the 3 of April 2019 at approximately 4pm.

Gardai looking for those with particular sets of skills as new recruitment drive launches  

"A male (20s) was removed by security men 3 times for being abusive to other students.

"Gardai arrived and directed him to leave the area. He returned and Gardai arrested the male for public order offences and was conveyed to Pearse Street Garda Station. Investigations are ongoing."
