Trinity College protesters storm gate looking for Professor Luke O'Neill before anti-vaccine protest

A group of anti-vaccine protesters descended on Trinity College today looking to speak to Professor Luke O'Neill from the School of Biochemistry and Immunology ahead of a planned protest.

They stormed their way through the gates at the Science Gallery after gathering at the CRANN building on Pearse Street.

And the college has now put enhanced protection onto the gate after security escorted the group of around 30 people from the premises.

The protesters have since made their way to Convention Centre for a protest against the government's COVID-19 restrictions.

A Trinity College spokeswoman told Dublin Live: "A group of around 30 protestors gathered outside the CRANN building on Pearse Street at around 4 pm today and pushed their way into the Trinity College Dublin campus through the Science Gallery Gate for several minutes.

"They left when requested to do so by security personnel.

"An enhanced security protocol has been put in place for the gate."
