Trigger Point start time: Release date for new drama starring Line of Duty's Vicky McClure

After much teasing ITV has finally confirmed the air date for Trigger Point, the brand new drama starring Vicky McClure.

The six-part series is written by screenwriting newcomer, Daniel Brierley, and produced by Jed Mercurio's HTM Television.

Vicky announced she was working with Jed again last year just one month after the highly-anticipated finale of Line of Duty series six, which saw 12 million BBC viewers tune in.

And now Trigger Point, which has been described as a "high octane thriller", has a release date. Here's everything you need to know.

When does Trigger Point start on ITV?

The broadcaster has confirmed Trigger Point will start on Sunday, January 23.

ITV viewers can tune in at 9pm.

The upcoming series is made up of six hour-long episodes.

What is Trigger Point about?

Trigger Point "turns the spotlight on counter terrorism policing and the extraordinary work of the Metropolitan Police Bomb Disposal Squad".

It will follow Vicky McClure (Line of Duty, I Am Nicola) as front line officer Lana Washington, and Adrian Lester (Life, Trauma) as Joel Nutkins, who works alongside her. Both ex-military, the pair are close, having served together in Afghanistan.

A synopsis from ITV reads: "When a terrorist campaign threatens the capital over the summer, the Expos are at the forefront of urgent efforts to find out who is behind the bombings before fatalities escalate."

Who is in the Trigger Point cast?

Alongside Vicky and Adrian will be Mark Stanley (Honour) as DI Thom Youngblood, Warren Brown (Luther) as Karl Maguire, Kerry Godliman (After Life) as Sonya Reeves, Cal MacAninch (Des) as Lee Robins SCO19, Manjinder Virk (Midsomer Murders) as Samira Desai SO15 and Ralph Ineson (The Capture) as Commander Bregman.
