Tricity logs 65 new Covid cases, 1 death

CHANDIGARH/PANCHKULA/MOHALI: Chandigarh logged 18 Covid cases on Monday. A 74-year-old man from Sector 33 died at the Command Hospital in Panchkula. He was fully vaccinated against Covid. A total of 30 patients were discharged on Monday, taking the total recovery count to 90,207. There are 216 active cases. The positivity rate was recorded at 1.63%. A total of 18 patients are on oxygen, while 11 are on ventilators.

A total of four persons tested positive for Covid in Panchkula on Monday. No death was reported. Chief medical officer (CMO) Dr Mukta Kumar said that out of the 43,973 Covid cases reported so far, 43,507 patients have been cured and discharged from the civil hospital in Sector 6. There are 53 active cases. The CMO also said that 5,91,552 samples have been taken in the district so far and 413 persons have died.

A total of 43 Covid cases were logged in Mohali on Monday. No death was reported. Of the 95,446 cases reported so far, 94,037 have been cured. There are 265 active cases. The district’s death tally is 1,144.

Meanwhile, 2,636 people were vaccinated in Mohali on Monday. The first dose was administered to 751 persons including 138 in the age group of 15 to 17, and the second to 1,754, including 1,241 in the 15 to 17 age group.
