TRICAPITAL appoints new finance director

Business angel syndicate TRICAPITAL has announced changes to its board and staffing.

The Melrose-based syndicate announced that its company secretary Andy Purves will join the board as finance director from this Friday.

TRICAPITAL has also appointed Carolyn Murray to the role of operations manager.

TRICAPITAL chair Jamie Andrew said: “We’re delighted to have Andy on board in this new capacity. He has been part of TRICAPITAL since its inception as an investor and company secretary, and his appointment as Director recognises his valuable contribution and skills.

“We look forward to him bringing his expertise to the table in the future during this period of change.”

Purves, who lives in Melrose, qualified as a chartered accountant in 1992 and set up his own practice in 1995.

After 20 years of growing the business, it was sold in 2015 to Douglas Home & Co, with whom he acts as a business advisor to clients and leads on business development.

Since 1999, he has been a director in Adam Purves Galashiels Ltd, and is now the fifth generation managing director of this SME family business.

Edinburgh-based Carolyn Murray is a corporate/commercial lawyer by training, with extensive experience advising large and small companies.

She worked for Tesco Bank in Edinburgh where she was head of Legal (Commercial and IT) for eight years from 2009 to 2017, before becoming programme director and head of compliance advisory in 2018.

In addition to financial services experience, Carolyn Murray has a keen interest in science and engineering, and previously worked in the nuclear sector.

TRICAPITAL Chair Jamie Andrew said: “I am delighted that Carolyn has joined our team, as she brings a wealth of experience, fresh thinking and enthusiasm to this new role at TRICAPITAL.”

Kathy Kinder of Eddleston Innovations, who has provided investment manager services  to  TRICAPITAL for over a decade and is stepping down, will take up a new role as TRICAPITAL Board Advisor.
