Friends and relatives of a 14-year-old girl killed in a horrific collision on Saturday have left heartrending tributes at the scene of her death.
Emergency services were called to Blackbrook Road, St Helens, at about 9.50pm to reports of a crash between a car and a pedestrian.
The schoolgirl was rushed to hospital where she died a short time later.
Officers said two men, aged 18 and 19, were arrested on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving.
After the news broke dozens of bunches of flowers were left by the roadside with emotional messages to the victim.
One said: "I love you so much angel, words can't describe how upset I am.
"You never failed to put a smile on my face. Such a gorgeous girl who was too good for this world."
Another said: "To my best friend, I love you so much. I don't know what I'm going to do without you my girl. We told each other everything."
One simply said: "All our family are truly heartbroken. Fly now with the angels."
A spokeswoman for Merseyside Police said yesterday: "Officers are appealing for witnesses following a fatal road traffic collision in St Helens last night, Saturday, 19 September.

"At around 9.50pm, it was reported that a collision involving a car and pedestrian has occurred on Blackbrook Road.
"Emergency services attended and the pedestrian, a 14-year-old girl, was taken to hospital where she sadly died.
"Her family have been informed and are being supported at this time.
"Two men, aged 18 and 19 were arrested on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving and they remain in custody for questioning.
