Tributes to 'sassy and beautiful' schoolgirl on what would have been her 21st birthday

Tributes have flooded in to a "beautiful" girl who died after a seizure at school on what would have been her birthday.

Jessica Davies, from St Helens, who would have turned 21 on Friday, died in 2016 while sitting an exam at school.

Just 16 at the time, Jessica was an aspiring make up artist whose death prompted an outpouring of grief from across Merseyside.

To keep Jessica's memory alive, her family and friends have shared images of her alongside touching messages on social media.

Jessica's sister Amanda told the ECHO the family let off balloons in honour of her birthday.

She said: "Lots of people let off balloons and put loads of beautiful posts on her Facebook today.

"It's so lovely to see that everyone still thinks about her after losing her five years ago in March.

"The last birthday we got to celebrate was her 16th and we've all missed her so much everyday since."

Paying tribute to Jessica, Amanda described her as "sassy" and "beautiful inside and out".

She said: "Jessica was beautiful inside and out.

"Cheeky, sassy but shy, we wouldn't have had her any other way.

"She loved singing, dancing when no-one was watching and making memories whilst taking thousands of photos.

"She's left a hole in all our lives that can't be filled and we will never ever forget her."

Over 100 people attended Jessica's funeral, which took place two weeks after she died.

Relatives wept as the cortege arrived at St Vincent’s Roman Catholic Church in Parr, in St Helens, with large floral tributes spelling out ‘ daughter ’ and ‘sister’.

Jessica 's white coffin was carried into church by four pallbearers, dressed in white shirts and waistcoats, as large crowds lined Derbyshire Hill Road.

The aspiring media make-up artist was carried into church to the sound of She’s The One by Robbie Williams, before the hymn Amazing Grace was sung, and readings given from Psalm 23, The Book of Wisdom and the Gospel of John.

After suffering a seizure at school, Jessica was rushed to Whiston Hospital and put into an induced coma before being moved to the Walton Centre.

She fought for 12 days before dying surrounded by her family.

Also paying tribute to her on her 21st birthday Jessica's friends said they would "never forget" her.

Andy Green said: "Happy heavenly 21st to our girl Jessica.
