Tributes to Nottingham pilot killed in tragic plane crash

The wife of a light aircraft pilot from Nottingham has paid tribute after her husband died in a crash in the Lake District.

David Bolton, 44, was flying his aircraft at Troutbeck in Cumbria when it crashed just before 3pm on Sunday, October 11.

A statement made by his wife, Alison Bolton, read: "David Bolton, a father of two from Nottingham was tragically killed yesterday after an accident in his light aircraft at Troutbeck, Cumbria.

"The chief revenue officer for tech firm Draper and Dash was a devoted husband, a fantastic father, a loving son and a loyal brother and friend with an appetite for life.

"He made a huge impact on everyone he met, whether in his work in healthcare around the world or his personal life and will be truly missed by so many.

"His family have asked for privacy at this difficult time."

Emergency services including police responded following a report at about 2.50pm on Sunday, October 11, that a light aircraft had crashed north of Troutbeck, between Keswick and Penrith.

A Cumbria Constabulary spokesman said: "The single occupant of the aircraft, a man, was pronounced deceased at the scene.

"There were no other casualties.

"The Air Accidents Investigation Branch has been contacted and a cordon put in place around the site."
