Tributes to missing man, 45, found dead in woodland

Tributes have poured in for a 45-year-old man who was found dead in woodland.

Police confirmed they found the body of Lee Sims in the Scarisbrick area this morning. Mr Sims, who was from the area, had been reported missing yesterday.

His death is not believed to be suspicious and his family have been notified. A file has been sent toe the coroner, police said.

Members of the public have now paid tribute to Mr Sims.

Jennifer Williams said: "Thinking of his family right now RIP I hope your have found your peace now."

Pauline Wah said: "So very sad. Thoughts and prayers are with his family. R.I.P. Lee."

Rose Thorogood wrote: "RIP Lee prayers and thoughts are with your family."

Kathy Newbold said: "So sad rest in peace."

Michelle Hughes said: "Thinking of Lee's family and friends."

Officers thanked the public who helped share their initial appeal for help tracing Mr Sims.

On their Facebook page, Ormskirk and Rural West Lancs Police posted: "Officers searching for a missing man have sadly found a body.

"In the early hours of this morning (Tuesday, February 23), Lee Sims, 45, was sadly found in a wooded area in Scarisbrick.

"His death is not believed to be suspicious and his family have been notified. A file will be passed to HM Coroner.

"We put out an appeal yesterday evening to ask for people's help to find Mr Sims and so we would like to thank anyone who called in, shared or commented on our post.

"Our thoughts are with Mr Sims’'loved ones."
