The coronavirus pandemic has proved an especially challenging time for frontline NHS and care staff who make sacrifices everyday to care for those who need it.
Every Thursday at 8pm people across the nation have been showing their appreciation for NHS workers and care workers by clapping from their doorsteps or applauding outside hospitals.
At least three nurses and healthcare assistants from the City Region are known to have died with coronavirus since the beginning of April.
Tuesday, May 12, marks International Nurses day where people across the world pay tribute to the incredible work that our nurses do every day.
The ECHO is celebrating the nurses who have made a difference to generations of people in Merseyside.
We asked you to send us messages of thanks to any nurses in our region who have helped your and your family over the years or who are particularly inspirational.

One reader highlighted the work of nurses and other medical staff at the Liverpool Heart and Chest Hospital who helped save her father after he contracted Covid-19.
Anna Hibbert said: "Our family just want to say a massive thank you to the Liverpool Heart and Chest Hospital, specifically the staff who work on the intensive care unit who have been looking after and caring for my dad over the last 5 weeks, where he was on a ventilator for 4 weeks with Covid 19.
"They have been amazing and yesterday my dad was able to come home after fighting so hard, we can't thank you enough for saving our dad."
Another reader paid tribute to nurses on wards 7B of the Royal Hospital after her father suffered a fall during the coronavirus lockdown.
Tracey Watkinson said: "We need to say a big thanks to ward 7B in the Liverpool Royal, they looked after our dad so well, he had a bad fall on his face and we couldn't get in the hospital to see him.
"They gave him all the car he needed at this stressful time."
Another comment highlighted the work of Jenny Shelbourne, a diabetes nurse at Aintree Hospital, who is currently working as a critical care nurse during the current epidemic.
Jackie Shelbourne Harrison said: "My niece Jenny Shelbourne works as a diabetes nurse at Aintree. As she trained as a critical care nurse she was put back on the front line at Aintree working 12 hour shifts.
"As a family we are all so proud of her and love her very much."
