Tributes to man found dead in van as police called to 'heartbreaking' scene

Tributes have poured in for a man who was found dead in a van at New Brighton.

Merseyside Police were called to Kings Parade in Wallasey on Wednesday, to reports of a concern for a man in a vehicle.

Police and paramedics attended shortly before 3.40pm, and the man, believed to be in his 40s, was pronounced dead at the scene.

His death is not being treated as suspicious.

ECHO readers have paid tributes to the man after he sadly died.

Alison Rob Cowpland said the man's death was "terribly sad news".

Shirley Scott said: "God bless him."

Steph Frances said: "RIP sending love to the families at this time."

Dozens of people also offered their condolences to the man on social media.

One person said the news was "so heartbreaking".

Another said: "So, so sad. The poor man and his family. RIP."

People in the area reported seeing a number of police vehicles parked up outside The Derby Pool Harvester Restaurant following the sad discovery yesterday.

Enquires are ongoing to formally identify him and inform his next of kin.

A spokesperson from Merseyside Police said: "We can confirm officers attended Kings Parade in Wallasey following reports of concern for a man in a vehicle today (Wednesday 28 April).

"Officers and paramedics attended just before 3.40pm, and the man in his 40s was sadly pronounced deceased at the scene.

"Police are not treating his death as suspicious at this time.

"Enquires are ongoing to formally identify the man and inform his next of kin."
