Tributes to 'funny and caring' man found dead

Tributes have been paid to a 'lovely' and 'funny' man who was found dead after being reported missing.

Adam Smith was reported missing by his family after he was last seen on Friends Lane in Great Sankey on Thursday, January 27.

Police became increasingly concerned for the 31-year-old after he was missing for two weeks and even missed his birthday celebrations.

In an appeal for help tracing him, police said it was "completely out of character" for him not to have been in touch with family members.

Officers confirmed that Adam, who was known by friends as Smig and Bif, was found dead at Fiddlers Ferry on February 13.

Commenting on the ECHO Facebook page, Seirah Marise said: "You were so loved by everyone who met you. Going to miss you Ad. Until we meet again rest in paradise mate."

Jade Spencer added: "Oh Ad I can’t believe it. Such a lovely funny lad you was! I hope your at peace now Smig! RIP."

A third, Siobhan Lottie commented: "Rest easy Bif hope your at peace now you’ll be missed."

Warrington Police Facebook page also shared the news of his death and hundreds more tributes poured in.

Posting in the comments section, Anna Louise said: "RIP Adam I remember so many funny times on Missouri, didn’t half crack us all up, such a funny, caring, loving lad, my thoughts are with your family at this very hard time, rest easy Adam xx"

Anthony Clelland said: "Rest in peace mate still can’t believe it’s you I remember only speaking to you a few weeks ago, so sad man GBNF."

Kristen Hanna added: "RIP Adam ! Thoughts and prayers to the family. Utterly heartbreaking."

Tommy Davies commented: "My condolences to his family and Adam take care in the sky above us all now my friend.Such tragic consequences. R. I. P brother."

Sandra Goodwin said: "Knowing what devastation this brings is so heartbreaking this world can be so cruel to the kindest of people thoughts are with his family and friends."

Police have confirmed that there are no suspicion circumstances surrounding Adam's death.
