Tributes to 'bubbly' mum-of-six who died of Covid just weeks before Christmas

A "bubbly" mum-of-six has died suddenly five weeks before Christmas.

Mandy Morris, aged 49, passed away after she woke up struggling to breathe before becoming unresponsive at her home on November 18.

Mandy, of Toxteth, Liverpool, was taken to Royal Liverpool Hospital by ambulance crews.

Sadly she was pronounced dead a short time later, Liverpool Echo reports.

She leaves behind her husband Kenny, 59, and six children - Lesley, 29, Kyrstine, 14, Kenneth, 13, Kristopher, 12, Kyle, 11, Krystian, 10, who were her "whole world."

Mandy also leaves behind her two granddaughters, Elsie, aged three, and Ebony, two.

Paying tribute, family friend and neighbour Poppy Comer, 24, described Mandy as a "bubbly and funny" character, who loved her husband and children dearly.

Poppy said: "The whole street is absolutely devastated by the shock, it was just so sudden.

"She's lived in that street for eight years now and from the day she moved in everyone just loved her.

"She was such a big character within the street.

"Everyone who knew Mandy would see how funny and bubbly she was, she was just always making everyone laugh."

When Mandy first started experiencing a slight cough and difficulty breathing on Monday, Poppy said she initially put it down to her COPD (Chronic obstructive pulmonary disease.)

The following day, the 49-year-old, who had had both doses of the coronavirus vaccine, decided to take a Covid test which came back positive.

Poppy said: "On Wednesday night her husband was worried about her so he rang an ambulance late in the night but she didn't feel that she was that bad.

"She didn't want to go [to hospital] so they mustn't have thought she was that bad, so they left and said see how she goes.

"That night she declined rapidly through the night."

Mandy's condition deteriorated further on Thursday morning, and after realising she was struggling to breathe her husband rang an ambulance.

Despite the best efforts of paramedics at the scene, Mandy was pronounced dead in hospital a short time later.

A GoFundMe page has now been set up with the aim of raising money for the funeral and to give her children "the Christmas they deserve."

Poppy said: "We're just trying to give them what we can raise funds for so they're not worrying about struggling for Christmas or struggling for the funeral."

In a message on the fundraising page, Poppy said: "With Mandy passing away so suddenly and unexpectedly with no time to say goodbyes I thought it would a nice idea to help raise money for her husband and six children.

"With Christmas around the corner I think it would be amazing if we could all support and give these children the Christmas they deserve. Any donations big or small will help this family as such a sad time."

Poppy said the response to the fundraising page so far "has been amazing", with people in the L8 area coming together to donate as well as members of the public who didn't know Mandy directly.
