Tributes to Ben Godfrey after 'fantastic young man' and 'talented rider' dies in Donington Park accident

Tributes have been paid to "talented rider" Ben Godfrey after he died in an accident at Donington Park on Sunday.

The British Superbike rider, 25, passed away from the injuries sustained in a collision with another bike during a No Limits Trackdays event at the Leicestershire circuit.

Mark Neate, No Limits Trackdays director, said: "I am so desperately sad that Ben died from the injuries he sustained.

"Ben really was a fantastic young man and friends with so many people in the paddock, he was always smiling and had time for everyone.

"He was very excited for the start of the season and had taken part in many trackdays in the last month.

"Our thoughts are with his family, his partner Jordan and his team-mates and friends."

He had been due to represent Team BGR in the Ducati TiOptions Cup at Silverstone later this year.

Fellow Superbike rider Glenn Irwin posted on Facebook: “Rest in peace Ben Godfrey. Gone way too soon. My thoughts are with his family, friends and team,” Irwin wrote on Facebook."

British Superbike and Endurance World Championship Rider Giona Rea added: "Difficult to believe. The racing community has lost another great person and talented rider. so sad and so sorry for his family and friends. My thoughts are with you all. R.I.P Ben Godfrey."
